Lady Gaga will indeed headline Super Bowl LIs halftime show
It turns out that the rumors are true: Lady Gaga will indeed play the Super Bowl halftime show in February. After a couple of weeks of speculation, reports and denials from the NFL, Gaga herself made it official on her Twitter account Thursday night.
This will be the six-time Grammy winner’s second consecutive appearance at the big game following her rousing rendition of the national anthem prior to the Broncos’ win over the Panthers in Super Bowl 50. In a press release, the NFL called Gaga “a one-of-a-kind artist and performer” and plugged an appearance she will be making on this Sunday’s edition of “Fox NFL Sunday” in which she will join co-hosts Curt Menefee and Michael Strahan “to offer a glimpse into what she has in store for this historic halftime show.” Fox will be broadcasting Super Bowl LI on Feb. 5, 2017.
Gaga made sure to punctuate the announcement on her Instagram account as well, offering up a couple more posts to get the word out. Her next album, titled “Joanne,” is scheduled for release Oct. 21.
